Resources for Lent and Easter At–Home Kits

Adam Walker Cleaveland 1 Comment

Lent at Home

As we prepare for another Lent & Easter season during the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve seen just how creative church leaders have been as you have faithfully reached out and connected with families in your congregations. We’ve also started noticing posts in many Facebook Groups asking for ideas for Lent-at-Home kits or Lent-in-a-box resources for families.

We want to help you design your Lenten and Easter kits with resources that are high-quality, digital, and easy to distribute.

Brand New Resources: If you’d like to learn more about last year’s Lenten offerings, and receive samples of our two recently-released Lent products click here to receive a FREE PDF with all the details.

*A note about physical coloring posters: Our coloring posters have been fantastic opportunities to gather together in community with people of all ages sitting around a table coloring together. That is obviously not possible during the COVID-19 pandemic, but we’ve seen churches come up with some innovative and creative solutions.

Some churches have set up coloring stations outdoors and invited people to come in shifts to color a poster together. Others have purchased our high-quality physical coloring posters, cut them up and distributed them to families and church members, and then put the pieces back together to create a beautiful art display.

Another option would be to host an online discussion using one of the devotional guides and the coloring pages. Allow participants to color and reflect during the week, and then gather together online to go through the devotional guide and share their reflections.

Aside from the physical coloring posters (which also have digital options available), all of these resources are digital and can be purchased and easily printed and distributed to families and church members, but could also be emailed to people for easy distribution.

3 Easy Intergenerational Easter Ideas

We hear from so many of our customers their desire to cultivate intergenerational connection in their faith families. This brings me joy because this approach to ministry is so spot on. Yet, having been in ministry for almost ten years, I know how difficult it can be to find activities that will serve a wide range of ages.

I hope these ideas make intergenerational connections easy this Easter in your community! Let’s jump right in. Learn how to facilitate spiritual growth, relationship building and theological discovery for you and yours with these simple ideas.

Color together. We’ve got some really fun Easter coloring options this year. Looking for something super easy and relaxing to do? Snag some of our coloring sheets or posters! Use them in the home, during Sunday School or in worship. Consider putting together some discussion questions or pull from an Easter resource. Kids, both in body and heart, will enjoy this time together.

Go on a hike. Hiking is a fabulous intergenerational activity. Get outside together and search for resurrection in the natural world. As winter lifts and spring arrives. the Earth bursts with new life. It may be fun to collect the dead foliage and use it to make an art project. In doing so you’re giving new life and beauty to that which has ceased living.

Plant flowers. Gather seeds, cuttings or potted plants from a nursery, especially those that attract bees. Choose a location and dig in the dirt together. Do this at the church, in your neighborhood, at the homes of the elderly. Gardening is a wonderful intergenerational activity to welcome spring and give life. Discuss the Spirit of God at work in giving life to all of creation as you welcome spring together.

Easter Blessings

We hope you have a beautiful and rich Easter this year. And we hope that these three easy ideas help you form memories together while reflecting on the mysteries of God. And don’t forget! Tell us what you’re planning to do this Easter with your kids.

Creative Ways to Use Your Alleluia Coloring Page

Alleluia Butterfly Easter

If you haven’t purchased your Alleluia Butterfly Coloring Page & Poster yet, I wanted to share some fun ideas from our community.

The Alleluia Butterflies

Alleluia-Butterflies-Colored

I got the following note from Kristen Koch, pastor at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in St. Ann, Missouri (yes, we featured them last week here):

I wanted to show you the idea I came up with for the alleluia file from Illustrated Ministry. I printed the 8.5×11 file, landscape, on cardstock paper. Then I cut it out, colored it and taped a jumbo craft stick to the back. I’ll hand them out (colored and uncolored) at the children’s message. Then I’ll tell the kids that whenever they hear “alleluia” in the service they should wave their signs.

Like we said in last week’s post, Creativity Breeds Creativity, it’s so much fun to see the creative ways people are using our resources. We all become more enriched and creative when you share your ideas – and so we just want to thank everyone who keeps sharing photos and letting us learn from you.

Here are a few other fun uses of our Alleluia Butterfly and Alleluia Easter Lily illustrations.
