What’s HERE for Advent 2017?
Advent Journey Coloring Posters • Available Now • Order Here
We are very excited about this year’s Advent Journey Coloring Posters. Last year, over 1,000 communities colored our posters and had really creative and meaningful intergenerational programs. It was so fun for us to see all the photos of people coloring together during Advent.
Some people have asked about the theme for the posters (and the devotional guide – which is described in more detail below), and we wanted to share with you what our thinking is at this point. We’re primarily focusing on the scripture passages from the Revised Common Lectionary (although, we did swap the Week 3 and Week 4 passages to make more sense for the posters). Below are the theme words for each poster and the primary scripture passage focused on:
- Poster 1: KEEP AWAKE (Mark 13:24-37)
- Poster 2: PREPARE (Mark 1:1-8)
- Poster 3: DO NOT BE AFRAID (Luke 1:26-38 – technically the fourth week’s Gospel text)
- Poster 4: MY SOUL MAGNIFIES THE LORD (Luke 1:46b-55 – actually a passage from the fourth week as well, but it is also an alternate reading for the third week)
- Poster 5: The Christmas Story Illustrated (Luke 2:1-14, (15-20))
- Poster 6: The final 6th poster will be one that can be worked on after Christmas, through Epiphany and into the new year. It will be an interactive poster (beyond just coloring it), encouraging participation among the members of your community.

2017 Advent Coloring Posters Devotional Guide • Available Now • Order Here
We’re also trying to learn and listen to our community, and something we learned last year, was that people really appreciated having a devotional guide to go along with our Stations of the Cross Coloring Posters. So we’re going to be offering a devotional guide to go with our Advent Coloring Posters this year. You can expect to find devotions that connect with the different coloring posters, and invite exploration, creativity, and reflection as people are coloring. This is new for Advent this year, and I hope you’re as excited about it as we are.

There are coloring sheets, activity sheets and it is filled with fun and creative ways to make the season meaningful for families. You can view a sample of this year’s resource here.
