At Illustrated Ministry, we hold inclusion as a theological stance. It’s not a bonus feature or add-on, it’s the foundation of everything we create, especially Mini Revolutions.

Too many church leaders have told us the same story when it comes to curriculum:
I needed to edit out the harm.
I had to explain the theology before teaching the lesson.
Or, I added a disclaimer just to make it safe.
From the start, we wanted Mini Revolutions to be an inclusive curriculum—to reflect the beauty, dignity, and sacred worth of all people. Here’s how we put that into practice.
Language That Affirms, Not Shames
Mini Revolutions uses words that reflect blessing, not brokenness. This doesn’t mean the stories avoid struggle. It means we start with this truth: we are made in God’s image and worthy of love.
Our materials use language that:
- Avoids fear-based or shame-based theology
- Rejects violent atonement frameworks
- Uses non-gendered, expansive imagery for God
- Affirms all family models—blended, chosen, single-parent, foster, and more
While we write with care, we also acknowledge this: no curriculum gets it perfectly right. That’s why we hold flexibility as a core value.
You know your context best. Mini Revolutions is designed so you can build on it, simplify it, or adapt it—without needing to rewrite it first.
Visuals That Reflect the Whole Human Family
Representation matters. Which is why our illustrations and visuals reflect:
- Children and adults of many races and ethnicities
- A variety of body types, sizes, and visible disabilities
- LGBTQIA+ families, gender-diverse characters, and nonbinary people
- Everyday environments that span cultures, class, and context
We don’t center one community or expression. Everyone belongs.

Built for Varied Learning Needs
Inclusive curriculum isn’t just about who’s pictured, it’s about how kids engage.
Mini Revolutions supports:
- Short, structured content that doesn’t overwhelm
- Creative responses through Micropractices and storytelling visuals
- Options to move, reflect, and create—not just sit still
- Participation over performance, empowering kids to be themselves without the pressure to get all the answers “right”
This approach celebrates neurodivergent kids, pre-readers, and sensory-seeking learners, welcoming all into the learning experience without shame or feeling left out. Everyone deserves to connect with faith in natural, not performative ways.
Intergenerational by Design
This isn’t kids’ curriculum scaled up or adult lessons simplified down. Mini Revolutions is built for shared formation across generations.
Each weekly session includes:
- Questions informed by developmental stages, welcoming all age groups to participate
- Activities that spark curiosity and conversation across generations
- Practices that can be done at home, in worship, or with mixed-age groups
We believe faith grows stronger together. When all ages show up as learners and leaders, the Church becomes what it was meant to be—a truly inclusive community.

Theological Language That Leads with Love
Whether a longtime minister or a first-time volunteer, Mini Revolutions equips you with language that affirms, not confuses.
We offer phrases, questions, and language that support:
- Justice-rooted theology
- Welcoming language for all families and bodies
- A clear foundation in love and grace, not obedience and shame
You don’t need a seminary degree to speak about God’s love with care. You need tools you can trust. That’s what we aim to provide you and your team.
Why It Matters
Inclusion is not an asterisk or an afterthought; it’s a value and posture we practice every step of the way. Building inclusive curriculum that says:
You belong here.
Your story matters.
You don’t need to edit us to make space for your community.
